We have an 80 year old female Ginkgo that my grandfather planted. It is about 30 inches DBH
and approximately 120 ft tall.
It has always produced fruit,but this is the first year that the nuts have formed inside.We are
curious as to how this happened, since there are no male trees around that we know of.
We are thinking that it was possibly pollinated by wind,birds or squirrels.Perhaps it hermaphridited and we didn't notice the male flowers?

Goededag, bedankt voor alle informatie op deze site! Wij zijn pas verhuisd en hebben in de tuin van het nieuwe huis een jonge Ginkgo boom staan. Ik schrok even toen ik las dat ze 30-40m hoog kunnen worden, hopelijk hebben wij een kleinere variant want onze tuin is niet zo groot. Hoe kan ik de boom het beste onderhouden zodat hij op zo'n formaat blijft dat hij nog jaren in onze tuin kan blijven staan?

I have a forest of 6 ginkgo trees in my garden. The oldest was a bonsai I "set free" after 4 years.That was in 1997. NBow it's about 45 feet tall.(15 meters) One of the trees appears to be female and had fruit in spring...but the green nuts didn't stay. It's very young.3 years since planted as seedling. I have photos and can send if you wish I would like to join you your group if i may. Nan

Na Slovensku v meste Lučenec rastie unikátny strom Ginkgo biloba L. cv.Ohatsuki (opísaný roku 1731 v Japonsku); samičí plodiaci strom, výška 12 m, obvod kmeňa 247 cm, vek 150 rokov.Môžeme zaslať fotodokumentáciu plodov, vypestovali sme ladeé semenáčiky.

Ďakujem za aktuálne informácie o Ginkgo biloba! Aké sú výsledky obnovy rastu posvätného stromu Ginkgo v meste Kamakura v Japonsku? Nové výhonky na koreňoch a kmeni stromu sú teraz vhodné na vegetatívne rozmnožovanie (letné a potom zimné odrezky). Pozdravujem priateľov Ginkgo stromu!

hoi, ik heb zo'n boom (pje) in mijn tuin staan. Ineens was ie er. 1 jaar oud en een mooie jonge scheut tussen het onkruid.
Omdat ik het blad niet kende ben ik een s gaan kijken en kwam achter de Ginkgo.
Vraag: hij moet absoluut op een andere plek staan. Kan ik de jongeling in de herfst makkelijk verplaatsen naar een veilige plaats waar ie ook kans heeft?
Moet ie juis veel of weinig zon hebben?
