I have been studying your site for some time. I collected seeds with fruit from The the roadside in Madison WI where my grandchildren live and complained about the smell. I am trying to help them value it. I started 17 seeds on a grandaughter's 17th birthday in January. We now have 5 seedlings from the paper method and 2 from the sand method. They inspire great responsibility and reverence. Thank you very much.

Fascinated to find your site - I also love to find and admire items where ginkgo has been used as inspiration. Just trying to think how I might make a design for a tapestry cushion I am planning - have all oddments of wools in shades of green to use....

I noticed two seeds under the two very large Ginkgo trees at Kikuit, the Rockefeller estate (now open to the public) in the Hudson Valley of NY, and I pocketed them. I am currently following your stratification directions. They are in the crisper until March, not outside. It was 10 degrees Fahrenheit below zero yesterday morning! I don't know if they will germinate, but I am grateful to you for creating and maintaining this excellent resource on the web.

A female ginkgo planted by my late father has been very productive in most years (except one with early false spring followed by cold snap).
To neutralize the smell when cleaning the nuts I wash them with eco-friendly detergent and a spoonful of food-grade hydrogen peroxide, then rinse with clean water. I got the idea from the recipe for washing skunk smell out of a dog's fur. (That recipe also includes baking soda but I didn't need the soda, as long as I used H2O2.)

Dear Ms. Cor Kwant,
Congratulations for your wonderful website!
I'd like to inform you that one of the oldest Ginkgo biloba trees in Europe and the oldest Ginkgo biloba tree in Croatia is planted between 1771-1777 and it's located in Daruvar, in front of the Caste of Count Janković, both male and female specimens.

Ook in Heerde staat een ginko boom. Het goudgele blad is bijna gevallen.Wat een prachtige boom. Toch wil ik graag wat snoeien. Ik krijg graag advies wanneer dit kan.

I'm a lifelong Texan who's never seen a ginkgo tree. My goodness, they're spectacular, and are so much in the hearts of folks who know them well. Now, to read your blog to fill in my obvious blanks. Heartiest thanks.

Wat een prachtige site! Bij mijn literatuurlessen Duits aan het VWO heb ik het gedicht van Goethe over de Gingko elk jaar weer behandeld met de afbeeldingen.

Delighted to find this wonderful information as the ginkgo trees here turn a beautiful lemony yellow.
