Good site !! One of my favorites for several years. I stratified/scarified and planted about 350 seeds last year and ended up with approx. 200 seedlings. They are one year old and look great. Will bonsai some and hope to sell some. Been my favorite tree since I worked for Biltmore Estates. Really not worried about the sex of them since they will not fruit till they are about 15 years old. I think the female tree is very attractive when full of seeds. Need more info on bosaing. How deep of a container/soil/training techniques etc.
thanks

Thank you so much for all your info. At the moment I am in South Korea and just outside the hotel are a number of gingko trees, I simply stumbled upon them. Through my son they have a special meaning to me, now I am going to study them more intense.

Hello,
Your web site is vert interesting, tank you for sharing so much information.
I have planted in my garden about 6 yearling ago a male gingko, it doesnt grows very much and has lots of lichen over. Could some fertilization help ?
I have harvested about 30 seeds in the jardin des plantes, and trying to have them germinating. If this works, what would the male/female ratio ?
Merci de votre réponse !
Cordialement.

I have planted some 7 or 8 seeds, but only one germinated successfully. It was
also the only seed I had experimentally kept in the refridgerator for two months.
The other seeds failed to germinate.
I have taken interesting photos of the great Utrecht Ginkgo at various times of the year.
There are several Ginkgos in my home town of Wassenaar, for instance along
the Herenweg and one near the Rijksstraatweg.

Hello,
I'm looking for a ginkgo female tree in Belgium or close around, but it seems impossible to find one for sale. I wonder if you know a place where to buy or order it.
Thanks
Kind regards

I first tasted and learnt about the Gynko in an Agric. Experimental Station in Japan, 33 years ago thanks to professor Mikio Sato.
Since then I am trying to grow a few gynkos in my farm, located in central Israel. There are a few well known gynkos in Jerusalem (mountanous climate) and Beer-Sheva (desert climate).
I wonder how easy the gynkos are propagated by air-layers and cuttings?

I have been immersed in bonsai for the past ten years. Ginkgo are my favourite tree for bonsai. Am now sourcing as many varieties as I can to plant out in our large garden. Unfortunately, not many varieties are available here

Been intrigued by Ginkgo for ages, partly because I lived for many years just near Kew Gardens & knew the trees there; partly because fossils were found in the UK proving the Ginkgo was grown there long ago; partly because I have grown 2 bonsai from seeds & am very fond of them. The better one now in a genuine Japanese bonsai pot, bought in Japan in 2011. Real treasures. Your website is a great resource - must read more of it, many thanks!

I would love to add a gingko tree to our front yard in Vermont. Any suggestions about locating a reputable nursery? I have not seen any in the local nurseries. Thank you!
