I recently made a post about the ginkgo trees on the campus of IU Bloomington. I mentioned that there are two large gingko trees, which are male and female. It turns out that the tree I thought was specifically male also makes fruit, but not every year. Both trees seem to have male and female characteristics. There is another large ginkgo nearby that also produces fruit. I am currently trying to figure out the ages of these trees. This past spring I sprouted some trees from the seeds of these giants and I am amazed by how solid my half year old trees have become. I plan to use a lot of them for bonsai and the rest of them I will plant. I feel like the ginkgo is a direct connection to helping restore the damage we have done to this planet, especially here in my country. I recently collected over 700 seeds and plan to try and raise them anywhere possible. It would be nice to buy old farm land in the states and grow ginkgo, dawn red woods, and so much more. I am on a mission!

I have a ten year old male ginkgo, pyramid shape, and would very much like to find a female ginkgo, any shape. So far, it seems an impossible task.

Thank you for your excellent web site.

THe Church of Saint-ANdrew and Saint Paul in downtown Montréal has several Ginko bilabo in its beautiful front lawns. I do not know when or why they were planted, obviously after 1932, the date of construction of the present church, which is listed as an "incourtunable" heritage property by the Québec government Do they require special attention or care? I believe they are male, since I have not noticed any fruit. Comments? Interested parties may consult the website which does not show them. However. I am requesting our web master to include a photo. www.standrewstpaul.com ";

I feel lucky to have found your website on the Ginkgo link in Wikipedia. The power of nature sustains and inspires us in the deepest ways. Thank you for documenting these important trees and the stories they tell. Thank you also to those people who saw the value in saving these trees and working around them. I am an advisory member of United Plant Savers and will share this site with our members. http://www.unitedplantsavers.org/

beste Cor,

Congratulations on your incredably detailed website.

Just to let you know that we will be planting a Ginkgo Biloba (arbre de la paix) in our commune of St. Martin la Méanne in the Corrèze, France, this Saturday, 22 September 2012. Minimum temperature this winter -25C, maximum this summer +40C. Should we protect it in winter?

Kind regards and good luck with your website! ";

Wonderful ~ Informative ~ Inspiritional ! I found 2 males in a nursery this spring and have planted one by my river cabin and the other at my farm that borders Cherokee National forest . Would love to find a female for each of these and ensure their future.

Veel succes met de site, Isa";

I'm presenting a talk on the Ginkgo at my herb society meeting. So glad I found your web page to help me in that endeavor. I was inspired to chose the ginkgo for my presentation by the beautiful ginkgo tree that lives next door. I just moved into a small, urban flat and am happy to have such an honorable neighbor.
